Statement by Biden for President Campaign Manager Jen O’Malley Dillon

Earlier today, as part of our routine COVID-19 testing program, we learned that a non-staff flight crew member that traveled on a support plane for Doug Emhoff tested positive for COVID-19.  As part of our contract tracing investigation, we learned that other members of the flight crew as well as two members of Mr. Emhoff’s support staff had been in close contact with this individual, as defined by the CDC.  We have asked all of these individuals to quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Mr. Emhoff was not on the plane with this individual. He was not in close contact with this individual, and did not even have passing contact with them at any point. Therefore he is not required to quarantine.  As part of his regular testing protocols, Mr. Emhoff underwent PCR testing for COVID-19 today and COVID-19 was not detected.

We delayed Mr. Emhoff’s scheduled departure to Ohio today, in order to conduct the initial steps in our investigation. With those steps complete and Mr. Emhoff cleared, he will continue to Ohio today and with his campaign itinerary through Election Day.
